May is National Foster Care Awareness Month
To highlight National Foster Care Awareness Month, we share with you an uplifting story that centers on a parent and caregivers as they work together—through separation, foster care, and reunification—in their shared and profound love for their child.
Created by our partners at Kindering, CHERISH is a model for providing Early Support for Infants and Toddlers (ESIT) services to child welfare systems-involved children and their families. At WCEL, our CHERISH model is dedicated to nurturing strong, healthy relationships between children and the key adults in their lives.
"What I love about the CHERISH model is that it includes everyone holistically," Jennifer, a CHERISH team lead and FRC at WCEL shared. "There is a lot of intention behind communication. We reach out to parents and make sure that they understand Early Support services and are included in their child’s journey. We help support the relationship between parents, caregivers, and social workers."
