Meet Our Team

Whatcom Center for Early Learning’s dedicated, mission-driven team of professionals believes every child should have access to early support services and the opportunity to live their healthiest life. Our staff are passionate about our work with children and families with developmental delays and disabilities and aim to actively contribute to a culture of appreciation.

Our work and culture are guided by our commitment to our WCEL values. As a staff, we are dedicated to partnerships, quality, understanding, and accountability. We seek to always assume the best intent and be gracious to one another.

Announcing our New Early Support Program Director!

Amelia Headshot.jpg

WCEL is pleased to announce that, with the funding support of the MJ Murdock Charitable Trust, we have hired Amelia Bacon as our new Early Support Program Director!  We did an extensive search, including consideration of candidates from outside our city and state, and Amelia was the clear choice to lead our largest program.

With a background as a recipient of ES services for her now-adult son, to her work as a special education teacher in the Nooksack Valley School District, to her roles in the agency as a Specialized Instructor, Family Resources Coordinator, and Early Support Team Lead over the last five years, Amelia has a wealth of knowledge, skill, and the leadership ability that we feel so lucky to have as a key member of our teams.  Congratulations Amelia!
