Bookkeeping Support Specialist

Position Summary:

The position is a new position at WCEL, and will report to the Finance and Administration Director. This role will support finance and billing functions of WCEL, and will work closely with the WCEL bookkeeper, Billing & Insurance Specialist and Administrative staff.  This is a team-focused position.

This is a tremendous opportunity for someone with a knowledge of billing and bookkeeping to be a valuable part of a mission-driven high-impact organization and expand their experience with non-profit finance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates daily financial tasks with the finance and billing team, to optimize workflows, including purchase requests, orders, bill processing, credit card activity and reimbursements

  • Maintains records for all transactions, documents, and contract/vendor information

  • Coordinates the monthly payroll process

  • Assists the Insurance & Billing Specialist with routine contract and insurance billing, such as data entry for claims and visit tracking for contract billing

  • Assists with monthly financial reporting

  • Develops and streamlines operational efficiencies in financial tasks 

  • Supports the annual audit as well as contract-related fiscal review processes

 

Qualifications:

  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in business or finance or other related degree required

  • Solid understanding of bookkeeping procedures is required  

  • Knowledge and experience with QuickBooks Online 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Office 365 and SharePoint

  • Experience with federal and/or state financial reporting requirements 

  • A motivated self-starter and problem solver with energy, flexibility, creativity, a sense of humor, and a willingness to pitch in as needed

  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to perform tasks with accuracy and efficiency

  • Ability to translate financial concepts to – and to effectively collaborate with -- programmatic and fundraising colleagues who may not have financial backgrounds 

  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and accountability

  • Medical billing familiarity is preferred 

  • Non-profit financial experience is a plus

 

Compensation and benefits:

This position is full-time. The salary range for this position is between $55k - $58k a year, depending on qualifications and experience level.
