Whatcom Center for Early Learning brings it’s 2nd annual Bacon & Kegs Festival back for another year, bigger and better than before! Last year’s inaugural festival had more than 1400 people in attendance, over a dozen PNW breweries and endless amounts of bacon deliciousness, and it was a huge success! This year we’ll have two sessions again - the all ages session will be from 1-3:30pm and will feature activities for the littlest kiddos up to adult, live music, bacon and vegetarian/vegan options as well as beer, cider, wine and non alcoholic beverages. (Plan ahead as no children are allowed in the beer garden, even babies. Non drinking tickets are available and kids under 5 are free!) The 21 and over session will be from 5:30-9pm (or 4:30 start time for VIP ticketholders) and will feature Baby Cakes playing funk & soul music, more breweries plus cider and wine, vegetarian/vegan options in addition to bacon galore, games and community. All proceeds go directly to the programming we offer for infants and toddlers with developmental delays and disabilities! Mark your calendars for August 11, 2019 and come join the fun! The WCEL 13th Annual Auction was a huge success - together we brought in over $83,000!
Thank you to all our attendees, sponsors, volunteers, staff members and our Board of Directors for committing to this event and supporting infants and toddlers in our community. Special thanks to Sarah Brand with SKB Events and to our auction committee members, Sarah Kaiser, Beverly Ott, Michaela Regehr, Erin Malone, Mark Moder, and Yolanda Calderon.
This year's auction featured a brand new film, produced by our friends over at Hand Crank Films, highlighting the importance of early intervention. Check out "Why I Believe" here! https://vimeo.com/324372638/0365e27f4f
Thank you to Hand Crank Films, the featured families, WCEL staff member Erin O’Moore and Dr. Lessli Putney of Peace Health for sharing your stories!
